よくある間違えやすい英語をわかりやすく説明します。

彼は彼女より2倍ほど背が高いです。

比較の文法はかなり複雑です。まず、一番簡単な比較級から見てみましょう。

「彼は彼女より背が高いです。」は、形容詞の "tall" の比較級

"taller" を利用します。　

He is taller than her.

否定の文章、例えば「彼女は彼ほど背が高くない」の場合だと、

比較級は使いません。

"tall" は形容詞のままで、「～ほど」は "as ... as" にします。　

She is not as tall as him.

「～より背が高い」は、「2倍」が入ると先程の構文と同じ

"as tall as" と言います。

そして "not" の代わりに　"twice" が入ります。

He is twice as tall as her.

ちなみに 「彼女」の　"her" は口語で、正式な言い方だと

"as she is"　にすると良いでしょう。

⇒　He is twice as tall as her.　 ○

または　

He is twice as tall as she is.
