Yomiuri NTV Culture Center is a subsidiary of Tokyo's
Yomiuri Shimbun, which has the world's largest newspaper circulation,
and Nippon Television Network Corporation, a nationwide TV broadcasting
station.
Established in December 1980, there are currently 19 Centers managed directly
by Yomiuri NTV Culture Center, and 4 franchises in Tokyo and the metropolitan
area. A wide range of courses are offered, including foreign languages,
music, dancing and sports, painting and arts, traditional tea ceremony,
flower arrangement and many more.
For an initial fee of \5,250(inc.tax) anyone can become a member. Once
you have joined, assuming you don't go a whole year without taking a class,
membership is good for life. In addition to the Culture Centers in Tokyo
and the metropolitan area, you may also take lessons without having to
pay a membership fee at any Culture Center anywhere across the country
that is affiliated to the Yomiuri Culture Center Union.
